Teddy Bear Toss

When the holiday season hits, MAPS brings together the Plymouth community to raise teddy bear donations and funds that go to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Children’s Hospital. Our goal is to raise at least 1,000 bears each year. Come contribute!

A Brief Overview

Every year, during one of the last home games of the year for the men’s and women’s hockey teams, students, faculty, and members of the Plymouth Community come together by bringing brand new teddy bears and other stuffed animals to the hockey game. When the first Plymouth goal is scored, the bears are thrown onto the ice in celebration. All the bears are collected by MAPS and donated to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Children’s Hospital, where they can find new homes with child patients just in time for the holiday season.

Additionally, each year a child patient ambassador of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Children’s Hospital will visit the game, receive a signed jersey from both teams, and do the ceremonial puck drop.

How Was 2024 Teddy Bear Toss?

Last year’s Teddy Bear Toss was a huge success with a total of 1,427 stuffed animals donated to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Children’s Hospital!

Our previous child patient ambassador was six-year-old Isabelle Fortier, who dropped the ceremonial puck at both the men’s and women’s hockey game.

2025 Teddy Bear Toss

This year’s Teddy Bear Toss will take place during the men’s ice hockey game against Salem State on Saturday Dec 6th, 2025 at 6pm, and during the women’s ice hockey game against Salve Regina on Friday, December 5th, at 6 pm.

Attendees are asked to bring any stuffed animal (new, with tags on) to the game to toss onto the ice when Plymouth scores its first goal of the game. Stuffed animals will also be available at the game and cash donations are encouraged. All stuffed animals tossed onto the ice will be collected and donated to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Children’s Hospital. Donations will help support further purchases of stuffed animals or donations to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Children’s Hospital.
